28)Signs('Ayats') in the Universe: Astronomy

The remnants of a star that exploded as a supernova in 1006, during the era of the Fatimid Caliphate and when Nasir Khusraw was 2 years old:

Picture taken a few days ago of the sun-this is where we get all our heat and light from:

Beautiful picture of the debris of a recently broken-up comet passing by the Ring Nebula. Keep in mind, however, that the Ring Nebula is millions of light years away from our solar system whereas the fragmenting comet is within our inner solar system. They just happen to look like they are next to each other in 2 dimensions:

Some of the technological tools used to discover and elucidate objects and events('ayats' or 'signs') in the universe:

Picture of the Orion nebula, which is a stellar nursery. New stars are born in this nebula all the time. Some of the stars that form also have forming planets around them. A fine example of a perpetual and constant creation as described in the 'Memoirs' of our 48th Imam in 1954:

Comet passing very close to earth, using time-lapse photography. If this comet fragment were to hit the earth anywhere(as many have done in the past), it would be sayonara for all of us:

Do not the unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together before We clove them asunder, and of water fashioned every thing? Will they not then believe?(Quran):

Below, a picture of the nebula in Orion where new stars are continuously being formed, some of them with forming planets around them, from which they are being "cloved asunder".

"The creation according to Islam is a perpetual and constant event..." Aga Khan III

Here is a link to a beautiful picture of an Alaskan volcano that is erupting at the moment. It was first noticed by an astronaut currently on the International Space Station. I post this picture because my next post will be on the dynamic earth as it relates specifically to volcanoes, earthquakes and tectonic plates:

Islam, eminently logical, placing the greatest emphasis on knowledge, purports to understand God's creation:Aga Khan 4.
